Get Involved!

January 6, 2012 Leave your thoughts

Tuesday night I attended the Iowa Caucus.  Close to 200,000 Iowans in both parties got involved in the political process.

As usual the media got it wrong.  Who “won” the Republican Presidential Preference Poll was not the most important thing that happened.

Almost 200,000 Iowans participated in identifying the main policy issues facing the country and proposing solutions.  Platform “planks” were presented.  Delegates were chosen by both parties for our county, congressional district and state conventions in March, April and June.

Among the biggest issues facing the country are what healthcare we want and how to pay for it once the “Baby Boomers” swamp Medicare.  Borrowing 40 cents of every dollar we spend is not the solution.  Eventually the Chinese will stop lending us the money.

I do not have all the answers.  Obviously neither do the House or Senate or President or Democrats or Republicans or anyone else in Washington.

Perhaps you have some ideas.  Both parties need lots of help if we are to solve our problems.  Remaining independent of the messy (and nasty) political process does not help.

If you care about the future of the country, or just about the future of your own healthcare, you must Get Involved!
